Learning for Teachers, or Summer Camp for Grown-Ups!
Modified 1/6/08
Why spend a boring summer on your own, trying to cram on unfamiliar material when you could come to our summer camp and hang out with other teachers who share your interests?
You'll get to participate in many of the student sessions for hands-on experience (and a reminder of how it feels to have new material introduced when you're a student). Later, while the kids are doing kid stuff, we teachers will get together to enjoy special “teachers only” sessions to discuss methods you have experienced.
We plan to introduce a specific body of topics and materials, but rest assured that the atmosphere will be collegial and informal, and there will be plenty of time to address your specific questions.
Sessions will include tips on helping non-experts get the right sound for particular styles, selecting repertoire, programming, getting help, and adapting arrangements to suit individual ensembles.
You'll go home rejuvenated, brimming with ideas, loaded with handouts & sheet music, and charged up by a new group of friends to call for encouragement and help!
For the past 2 years we've been approved for up to 20 CPDU credits through IMEA (Illinois Music Educators' Association). We are waiting on approval for 2008 but expect that it will be granted.
Otherwise, your tuition, room, and board will be the same as any other student. Rooms are double occupancy, but you can request a private room for an extra charge.
